Infants & Wobblers
In our Infant & Wobbler rooms we provide a caring and nurturing environment for each little one and their family. We know that the first year of life is a very important time in a child’s life where they continually grow and learn each day. Our staff provides care to each infant to ensure that they are developing at his/her own pace and reaching milestones. Our care focuses FIRST on making sure your child feels safe, secure, and loved; we also focus on engaging each child to ensure they are making progress across the various areas, or domains, of development: gross motor, fine motor, cognitive/sensory, language, and social/emotional development. A daily sheet is sent home with each child for the parent with: diaper changes, feeding/meal times and amounts, and any updates or changes in your child’s normal schedule.
The skills we strive to teach:
Gross Motor: controlling the head, sitting, crawling, pulling up or “cruising”, and walking
Fine Motor: holding a spoon, picking up a piece of cereal between their thumb and finger
Cognitive/sensory: seeing, hearing, tasting, touching and smelling
Language: starting to make sounds, learning some words, understanding what people say, imitating language
Social/Emotional: reciprocating facial cues and language, developing a sense of security as caregivers respond to their needs
Our staff fosters each area by working on skills as the babies show signs of individual readiness. In addition to providing a stimulating environment, our staff continuously sanitizes the classroom to ensure the health of all of our children.
Our ratio for Infants is 2 caregivers to 8 children. In our Wobbler room, if all of the children have reached their first birthday, that ratio is 2 caregivers to 10 children.
